Bethany's Page ~
Hi my name is Bethany. Here’s my testimony.
When I was four years old my family and I were at a camp where my parents were speaking. My mom pulled me aside under an oak tree, to share with me the wordless book. When the invitation came I said I wanted to accept Christ. So, I said the prayer. I don’t know if I really said the prayer out of my heart or just to please my mommy. When I was thirteen years old, my parents decided we would go to the Word of Life Family Campground for a service. Well that Sunday morning they were talking about missions, my parent’s eyes were full of tears. The rest of my siblings were so confused as to why my parents were crying on Sunday. What they didn’t know, I knew. My parents wanted to be missionaries since they were six and seven years old. I told my parents straight up that I didn't want to be a missionary. I didn't want to leave my friends or my stuff behind. That October after my birthday, my dad went to a conference at ABWE (Association of Baptist for World Evangelism). They had a man there from Chile speaking. What he spoke about broke my daddy’s heart for missions. So, that Sunday night, when he got back, he tried to say casually, “So what do you guys think if God were to call us to be missionaries?” We all got quiet. Then slowly Jordan, Amanda (Mandi), and Lukas started asking questions and getting excited they all agreed we should go into missions. Since my parents wanted to make this a family decision they asked me what I thought about it. They were all so excited, they were waiting to see my response, so I said, “Sure”. The next Tuesday I called my Dad on the phone and said, "What are we waiting for? Call the mission board. We want to go!" Within a month we had chosen a location to serve and told our church how God had dircted our family. In March of 2006 I made sure of my salvation and accepted Christ as my Savior, with my mom on one side and my dad on the other. That Easter Sunday I was baptized. Now I am going to Ecuador as a missionary with my family & waiting to see what else in life God wants me to do.
Things I like:
~ I love children. A kinda motto of my life is: Niños = el Gozo de mi Corazon. Which translates: Children = The Joy of my Heart.
~ In my family I am called the Strawberry girl, but unless we grow our own in Ecuador I will have to wait until I’m back in the States to eat them.
~ I am graduating from High School in San Jose, Costa Rica from Sojourn Academy on June 5, 2009.
~ I love riding horses. Recently I have rode horses on a coffee plantation among the coffee plants.
~ I love learning Spanish and interacting among Latinos.
~ I am planning on attending Word of Life Bible Institute: Bueños Aires, Argentina in fall of 2010. Then after a year or two I am planning to attend Trinity Baptist College in Jacksonville, Florida.
~ When we get to Ecuador I am hoping on helping out some orphanages while doing college online.
